It really does degrade one's quality of life. My mother-in-law

is quite bit overweight. My wife and I have tried for years to get her more active to lose some weight, but at age 76, we've pretty much given up that she's not going to change at this point. But when I watch her struggle to negotiate even a single curb level step (stairs are totally out of the question), struggle to get in and out of a car, or get completely out of breath after a short walk, and you combine that with all of the obesity related health issues (knee replacements, diabetes, intestinal issues), her quality of life really is pretty poor. Her obesity is only going to become a bigger obstacle as she gets older (I can foresee a full time aide in our budget in a few years at the rate her mobility is degrading). I feel a bit judgmental too, but I simply can't imagine going through life with all of the obesity related issues when there is a solution.
